To understand the power of love we must first consider
how the world was made. Today, we hear a great deal
about research into atomic energy an the splitting of the
atom. This was considered at one time to be a world-shaking event, but when scientists had succeeded in splitting the so-called atom they merely found that they had
separated one set of atomic particles from another.
This was surprising, but they then went still further,

to discover that the world of atoms was really the foundation of energy-solar energy, atmospheric energy, magnetic energy and the reactions of matter to heat and cold.

The more research is carried on into the atomic world,
the more information is coming to light on the energising
of light, life and form as we see it. That a thing is small
does not necessarily mean that it lacks power, and we find
that these great forces of atomic energy which exist in and
surround our atmosphere, and of which our own bodies
are composed obey definite laws as attraction; in fact it
has been discovered that the atomic world is made up of
minute replicas of the universe solar systems, stars,
suns and moons. The pattern from the heavens is merely
produced and reproduced, on a smaller and smaller scale
into the infinitude of invisibility.

Now that is a very, wonderful discovery , because we find that we have one central pattern reproducing itself at every level; physicists find, too, that these atoms function in obedience to set laws which control their behaviour. They seen almost able to think. They have very strong emanations and are able to change their po1arities; in fact atomic research has brought us nearer to the reve1ation of God's handiwork than , perhaps, any

other modern discovery. A world invisib1e, yes so powerful that it influences all that is visible.
The power of the atom lies in attraction, that is, it is able tu attract to itself other bodies which gyrate around
its centre. What is the power of the centre ? What is this force that forms such a powerful matrix !?
Now when we undertake research into other forms of life, animal, vegetable or mineral, we find a similar energy, transformed, perhaps, into different functions.
This same adhesion of form follows every pattern of
creation, so the solar system, the Earth, the atmosphere
surrounding the earth, and all things contained within the Earth, are powered by this si1ent force. Its origin is unknown to the scientists. All they know is that it is there.

In view of the speed with which planets move through
space it is surprising that none Of them collide, yet there they are, rotating and moving around their parent sun , a l l

sequence, all law and Order, perfect balance and perfect
harmony. What power is being used! What manifestation
is taking place ! This sun, this power, this seed seems to
have been sent forth into matter at different rates of
vibration and it attracts to itself visible substance and
shapes that substance into a basic pattern. This is the
mystery that the Ancients referred to in the saying , ''A
seed has gone forth and will manifest''. All the myriad forms of life that we know, and any which we do not
know, are manifestations Of his great, invisible force.
Te seed energy, which is the reproduction of substance which sets its own matrix of repetition; has one
parent. That parent reproduce itself within its own field
of activity and produces abundance.

It may be difficult to grasp that one source of power,
reproducing a basic form of life, eventually populated the earth with its myriad forms of life, the various species of

plants, animals, birds and fish, but the seed was sent forth
empowered with energy-energy of its own reproduction.
It is this rate of reproduction, the great life mystery of
perpetual energy and movement, which astonishes research workers, not only in the atomic and biological
fields, but in all other sources of nature.

We must go a little further in this study and try to
understand exactly what takes place in substance. It is
thought that the earth was first a seed of great energy.
lt rotated in space gathering to itself cosmic dust floating
in the void, and gradually covered its external fire with a
solidity of form.

Why does not the earth explode? Why do not things fly
off it! How is it that we can poise a most delicately
balanced instrument when it is travelling though space at
something like 72,OOO miles an hour? There must be some
force steadying it, providing the stability, and there must
be some attraction which is holding it together as a unit.
The same thing applies to our bodies. A seed has gone
forth and will attract to itself the substance of its character,
and that character, or the substance which is attracted
towards it, will be decided entirely by the vibrational rate
or shalI we say the' developed consciousness-of the

seed.
A seed Of this nature can take on many forms. It can
break down one form and build another. It can change from one sequence Of conditions to another. That is, it is
capable of transforming itself continuously and eternally.
Here we can begin to see what is meant by the Law of
Attraction, like unto like, or, to quote the familiar old
count saying, “Birds Of a feather flock together”. There
is a silent, invisible force which operates like a magnet

and draws invisible substance into form. Now the form of
these things is decided entirely by the heart or centre
from which the energy is radiating. That again is invisible,
but what we do see is the substance, the outer form that it
has attracted towards itself, just as the earth attracted
cosmic dust to form its mineral or outer layer.

What is the position of human beings in this great, mysterious framework of energy and movement. Why is it that
every form and body is entirely different from every other?
How is it that some are better developed than others and
seem to live healthier lives? What power of attraction is
taking place in that inner core or centre., that can attract an refined body or substance so that it can mould from exterior elements something shapely and comely, and also
maintain a vast reservoir of energy? What force, what power has been used? Should this force or power deteriorate in any way the power of its attraction will not be able
to hold on to substance. It will leave that particular element and change over to another, so this life force or
energy must have a constant sequence for it to maintain
its life.

We have used the word ''life'', which is only another
word for this silent force, this power. How is it that some
people are drawn to certain types of disease conditions?
At what rate is force vibrating for these conditions to
occur? We know that the vibrational force within that life
decides what it will attract. Lower this frequency and it
will attract lower forms of substance. Raise the frequency and it attracts a higher form of substance. Here we have
intelligence working; substance is subject to an influence
which either draws it together or dissipates it.

Does the frequency of that life force oscillate to such a
degree that it is not able to hold its stability! Obviously,
the answer is ''Yes''. It is not able so to maintain its rate
of vibration as to hold a stable condition of continuity.

It seems as if in the human field, in the field of density that we occupy, are many layers of influences, just
as in the upper atmosphere the air becomes thinner
while nearer the earth it becomes denser. There are
different layers, different strata, and each layer or stratum

occupies a certain condition of substance and attraction.
Whatever stream any life occupies within those different strata, so will it gather the substance of that stratum
to it.

Now let us go back a little and try to discover what is
the operating force or power by which each individual is
able to control the rate of its own vibration. Many who
have not studied this problem would say that there is no
control, that we are just victims of passing conditions. The
more we study the activation of life around us the more
c1early we see that that is not true.

There is a key. There is some method by which each
life can decide for itself the quality and rate of its own
attraction. It seems that some element of free-will is in
herent in every form of life. In some it is crude and is
linked only to the instinctive force. In others it is more
developed and begins to enter into the reasoning state, and
where aII these things have been explained there is still a
potent force, a silent power, which influences the rate or
degree of attraction. For the want of a better world, we
may say that these levels or sequences of energy have a
''common denominator'. Some would say with a certain

amount of truth, it is dominated by the law of survival;
others, it is influenced by mortal mind ; the scientists
would quote the law of attraction; the biologist, the
degree of intelligence inherent in the seed or germ. All
wou1d be right, but there is still something missing.

One scientist, who was also a philosopher, came right
out with his discoveries and said that the only formula he
could establish in the behaviour of all these different forms of rotating life was a ''Silent X'', which we have
referred to, and he said he had come to the conclusion
that it was some form of love. Scientist talking of love! He said that that really did not explain it. The word was
very inadequate, but it was he basis through which all

!ife oerated and was controlled.
He had merely discovered what had already been known

for many centuries to the adherents of early faiths and
religions: that this power called love is the deciding factor
in every issue in every world and in every form of creation.

Have any of you ever seen an electromagnet working ?
The operators let down a large ball of iron and magnetise
it, and immediately all the scrap metal clings to it. They
haul it up, and if they are loading a ship they suspend it
over the hold, cut the current, and the metal falls awa
y fromthe iron ball into the hold. The process is repeated
the current is switched on to attract and switched off to
repel. This is an example of electricity being applied to a

controlled magnetised field.
Now try and see that the core of every life is a constant magnetised or sensitised field. Therefore, according
to the rate of that energy, so will the rate of attraction or
repulsion operate.

To make this more interesting let us apply this question
of love to the relations of the human family. The opposite
polarity to love is hate. That is, if we switch off the
attraction current we set up repulsion. If we can attract
we can repel, but hate itself has a certain amount of the
power of love, because it is fashioned from the same substances. It only means that we have changed the polarity.

Hate, then, will attract on a lower level. a denser sub
stance will be attracted towards human form and so will lower the quality of its adhesion, lower the quality of its

own body.
So we see that love is not merely a plaything for human
emotions; it is the soul of the universe, and we cannot have
any form of creation without it.
Now love itself can function on many of the levels
shown on our chart. Page 78. Being a basic force
it will energise the basic patterns and can, when used in
its lowest form, exaggerate them out of proportion to the
needs of the human life. That is, once love, which is a
highly atomic, energised power, touches anything, it
intensifies, magnifies and exhilarates it. It is almost like the
wand in the story of Cinderella-whatever it touches it
transforms.

I used to be fascinated by the story of how the pumpkin
turned into the coach. Somehow I never thought it was
impossible These fairy tales are not impossible. They
have an element of truth. There really is a magic,
there is a force which can change one thing into another,

and this force is in us, a part of our spiritual heritage.
We can begin to see that when The Christ performed
works of healing, a high intensification of spiritual power
centred in the seed of pure love, was able to touch any
form of life and transform it. A withered arm became
whole. Conditions of leprosy were transformed by this
powerfuI force re-energising its own centre, altering its
rate of attraction and adhesion, and raising the life above
the stratum which was drawing to itself impurities of a
lower density which showed itself in the running sores of
leprosy.

Try to bear in mind the intensity of such power. Think
of the magic wand, if you like. It touches something and
that thing is transformed. The human mind has a power
which is constantly changing matter; an individual can
reform its character, the body can alter its rate of vibration. The degree of change is decided by the quality of its
motive, or whether the power of love is being used wisely or unwisely.

I never like to hear anyone use the word ''hate'', be
cause I know by personal experience what harm even
using the word can do. I know what forces can be released
through using the negative influences surrounding, not
only the health of a person, but also his atmosphere and
environment, employment and human relationships. We have
this power in us constantly. We can use it selfishly or unselfishly, or, if we are wise, we shall not use it at all.
We shall just try to be what it represents.

Sick people often say, ''Oh, I hate this body of mine. I
am sick of it. I despise it. It is always giving me pain and
troub1e. It is always hurting me. It is always tired''. Until
we can change this attitude the body will gradually lower
its form so that it becomes worse instead of better. Let us
make haste to realise that we have a magic touch, magic
fingers, magic thoughts-I am using the word ''magic''
in a simple, natural sense-and that when we do realise
that we can touch some pattern of creation, and by the
intensity and quality of that invisible force raise the status
of that condition. Then we can begin to see where creation
begins and dissolution end. We can create our bodies
ugly, our minds ugly and our surroundings ugly, because
the same magic touch, the same power may be used to

produce a lower form, or to produce a life pattern
properly understood.

The same use of that touch, that power, produces the
ideal conditions, the perfect body, the perfect state of
mind, the perfect environment. It depends upon the
stratum or level on which we create, for love is creation.
It is creation. It is the element by which creation takes on
form.

Now we must go a little further and understand that
this force within us is a waiting force. That is, in many of
us it is almost untouched.. We have not rea1Iy used it. We
have used something which we call ''love'', but we have
never really used the true essence of love. We think we
have, but what we have used is a very poor representation
of it, a very low order of it.

We think we love our families. We think we love life
and many other things, but there has not been the pure
intensity. There has not been the full use of the power of

creation, nor complete co-operation with the intelligent love forces of the creative life.

You cannot heal or he1p anyone or anything without
love. People are either better or worse for meeting us,
because our love force or its opposite is emanating from us

continuously, night and day. It never stops. Radium can
be seen to be throwing off scintillating particles of living
substance night and day; the human body and the human

life is doing the same.

So it is that the mind life, as 'ell as the instinctive life is using a love force to manifest with, and according to the
degree of the power used so will the creation be either
complete Or incomplete, inferiorly made or beautifully
made, the only difference being in the quality of the love
force being used to manifest that creation.

Now do not think we have to labour. Love does not
labour. It attracts, and when the frequency of the love
energy rises, all the lower substance of matter falls away
from it, because it has no attraction.
What is the energy. which forms the attraction in the
first place? It is the desire life. Whatever we desire will happen, but only at the level on which we intensify that
desire. Is it for self? Is it for our own comfort? Is it for
somebody else good? Who is to say it is for their good,
anyhow? We may be desiring something very wonderful for somebody, but he may not be ready for it.

So the desire force forms the framework of the attraction for substance. Our bodies are representative, our
minds are representative of the quality of our life, and
when we look at them in the glass we need not be particularly proud of them.
Well, this present life is for us to experiment with. It
is not the beginning and the end of all things. It is the
fringe of all creation, and the power manifesting through
each individual is very much as in a kindergarten
school. It is given that we may experiment and make
mistakes, and eventually from these errors learn to use
wisely what we are given. That applies to us. As St. Paul says that he has grown and ''put away childish thing',

so should we have put away childish likes and dislikes,
hates and all the subjective things which go to complicate
life, because the invisible touch of this magic love force
will transform whatever we think about, and we shall
create it by merely thinking. We shall energise it by merely
conceiving it.

Someone may say, ''I did not conceive this particular
life. Why have I this load of trouble and disappointments?”But we have conceived it somewhere. The law cannot be
wrong. We cannot have one law for one person and change
that law for another. Law is absolute. It is constant. There
fore, love is the key which operates all the laws. Every law
in the universe is operated by the law of love according to
the degree Of purity or impurity. It is very hard for the
human mind to conceive this, because we have become
so accustomed to the idea that we personally are the result
of something else and not the result of ourselves. People
blame parents, blame environment, blame conditions, in
fact they go about blaming everything, without stopping
to consider that they themselves are the final deciding
factor, not environment, parents or conditions.

We can either intensify, that is, increase and improve,
or we can degrade and lessen, by the same power. This
magic touch can transform our lives when we begin to
realise its potency, its effectiveness, its divinity, and we
ask whence it has come. It is a part of the seed of creation
transplanted from God into ourselves.
Now love must be completely free from desire or it can
not work. It can only work in a negative way if it is linked
to desire. Desire is not intelligence. Desire does not
reason. Desire is merely a sense. The mind, too, is not
very good, because that builds up a desire life. It desires
money, power, position and is fuly of covetousness, jealousy, en, greed. Those things are in the mind life.
If we wish to create wisely we must eliminate all self
desire. This means that the student on the path knows of
these powers but never uses them for self. You do not
need to use them. They wi1l use themselves. The very
fact that you are reading this, will cause the quality and

essence of your love to radiate in the atmosphere. Even the
temperature of room can be lowered by hate or raised
by love.

Another concrete example: if you are playing on a sensitive instrument, whatever harmony or discord is played
upon that instrument will vibrate in the atmosphere and

those vibrations can affect everyone within its influence,
far beyond audible range.

Here we can see how necessary meditation is to
eliminate the coarser qualities of human nature, because
in eliminating them we are increasing the abundance of
our love life. Realise that every sickness, illness,
unhappiness and negative condition is, in some way,
se1f-created by the use, wrongly or unwisely, selfishly or
mistakenly, of the love force power with which we are endowed. If you think you are old, you will become old. If

you think you are beaten, you are beaten. If you are despondent and have no friends, then you are despondent
and lonely. If you feel that you have no future and the
world is against you, it is against you-it is as simple as
that-but if you begin slowly to regenerate the different
life energies with spiritua1ity and love, all that will change.

It can change over night. We can call it re-birth. That is, a
person is reborn into a higher state of radiating consciousness, and all the lower substance, which is disease

an unhappiness, falls away because it is not being
energised by, negative form of creation.

ow remember this magic touch. Whatever you think of, whatever you touch, you are transforming it, and if you
wish to transform it into abundance think that this magic
power is real. It is asreal as the chair yo are sitting on.
Once you have discovered this, you have discovered the
greatest secret of happiness that life can give you. You
can eliminate the idea of death, because there is no death
if love be present. When love has been neglected refill the
spiritual vacuum with love-radiance, and the whole being
becomes recharged with life. It is as easy as that.
By this you can understand the ' 'miracle ' and the acts
of manifestation shown in the Christ Life. The Christ
Spirit demonstrated the power of pure, unadulterated,
selfless love and He aid, candidly, what I do you can do
also, meaning, provided you use the Law of love to do it,
not desire. That is the difficult thing, to separate the desire,
the will, from the state of the Love Being.

Now I want you, when you have learned to meditate to
dwell, if you can, on this beautiful, invisible, creative
power. Every touch, every word, every sound, ever?

thought , every wish, is magnetised, intensified and energised by the transmission of your love rate, and on that
will be decided-on that alone-the condition of your life,

not only here, but also in the hereafter,
